South African meat casserole bobotie

South Africa – Bobotie

4 persons – 3,80 € per person

Make the bobotie:

  1. Fry (~ 10 min):
    • 800 g beef mince
    • 2 onions
  2. Add:
    • salt
    • pepper
    • turmeric
    • cinnamon
    • curry
    • garlic powder
    • cajun spices
    • 2 bay leaves
    • 30 ml mango chutney
    • worcester sauce
    • lemon
    • 1 grated apple
    • 30 ml raisins
    • 4 milk soaked toasts
  3. Make the egg-milk:
    • 4 eggs
    • 300 ml milk
  4. Place in the casserole with egg-milk and put in to the oven (~40 min / ~ 180 C):
    • the bobotie
    • the egg-milk

Make the yellow rice:

  • 300 ml rice
  • 300 ml chicken stock
  • 300 ml water
  • turmeric
  • 2 garlic gloves
  • oil

Serve with:

  • 2 steamed carrots
