Syrian food shawarma

Syria – Shawarma

Make the shawarma:

  1. Marinade the chicken (> 1 hrs):
    • 400 g chicken breast
    • 150 ml yoghurt
    • 1/2 lemon
    • 1/2 red onion
    • 6 garlic gloves
    • 1 ginger
    • olive oil
    • salt
    • pepper
    • cumin
    • paprika
    • garlic powder
    • cinnamon
  2. Fry (~ 8 min)

Make the toppings:

  1. Yoghurt sauce:
    • 1 deseeded cucumber
    • 2 garlic gloves
    • 200 ml yoghurt
    • olive oil
    • salt
    • pepper
  2. Tahini sauce:
    • 100 ml tahini
    • 2 garlic gloves
    • olive oil
    • 50 ml water
    • salt
    • pepper
    • cumin
  3. Vegetables:
    • 2 tomatoes
    • 200 g chickpeas
    • 1/2 red onion
    • 6 pickles

Serve with:

  • pita bread (or tortilla)
